Part II – Import earthquake.txt (csv) to Tilemill

First Download the document from http://www.columbia.edu/~ih2240/dataviz/earthquake.txt

Interface:

  • Main toolbar
  • Map preview
  • Editing tools
  • Stylesheet editor

Step1: Create a new project – Earthquake

Step2: Get to know the code editor

  • Active stylesheet tab
  • Inactive stylesheet tabs
  • New stylesheet button
  • Line numbers
  • Text area
  • Color palette

Step3: Import Fonts and Change Background to light grey #eee

Step4: Add A New Layer

Step5: Load Earthquake.txt and “Save & Style”

Step6: Check the new layer “eq” and its styles on the editor

Step7: Styling the size, w.r.t Magnitude

Step 8: Export to a format you want and specify the bounds.
